WINSTON-SALEM — Don Walser Brooks, 69, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Brooks was born on Oct. 21, 1938, in Davidson County to Fred Monroe Brooks and Laura Veigh Walser Brooks. He was retired from Duke Energy. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. The service will be conducted by Elder Robert Hall.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winston-Salen South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3799 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107.
Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Evans
LEXINGTON — Elizabeth Anna Nooe Harris “Betsy” Evans, 86, died early Sunday morning, July 20, 2008, in Mocksville.
Betsy was born on Jan. 17, 1922, in Lexington to the late William Osmond and Allie Nooe Hutchison Harris. She attended Appalachian State Teachers College (now Appalachian State University) where she met and fell in love with Neil Evans. She completed a business course at UNC-Greensboro and subsequently worked at Commercial Bank of Lexington and as secretary of the Lexington Retail Merchants Association. She and Neil married August 8, 1942. Neil preceded her in death on June 19, 2008. Their marriage, love, and devotion lasted for almost 66 years.
Funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday from Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Surratt officiating. A graveside service following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church at 3 p.m. before the service.
Memorial contributions in Betsy’s memory may be sent to the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Piedmont Funeral Home.

Sidney E. Proctor Jr.
LEXINGTON —Mr.. Sidney E. “Sid” Proctor Jr., 76, of Twin Acres Drive, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Alston Brook of Lexington after declining health.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. A private inurnment will be held in the Church Columbarium.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Church Fellowship Hall prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S. Main Street, Lexington N.C. 27292.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Stephanie Reddick
Mrs. Stephanie Smith Reddick, 57, a resident of High Point, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, July 16, 2008.
She was born February 4, 1951, in Davidson County. She was a graduate of East Davidson High School in Thomasville.
Stephanie was married to Woodrow Wilson “Butch” Reddick who survives of the home. Also surviving are one son, Dan Gallimore of Thomasville; two step-daughters, Donna Reddick Wallace and husband, Pete, of High Point and Michelle Reddick Boyles and husband, Terry, of Denton; a step-son, Parrish Reddick and wife, Cynthia, of Thomasville; her father and step-mother, Charles Baxter Smith and wife, Faye, of Greensboro; her mother and step-father, Crissie Brown Picklesimer and husband, Frank, of Thomasville; her siblings, LeAnn Maley and husband, Chip, of Moore, S.C., Charlene Lowe of Greensboro, Kathy Wong and husband, Darrell, of Hawaii, Chris Smith and wife, Roxanne, of Denton, Charles B. Smith Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Virginia, Clark Smith and wife, Tracey, of Virginia, John Picklesimer and wife, Kathy, of Thomasville; and seven grandchildren, Kali and Corey Gallimore, Joseph Collins III, Kaleigh and Addison Reddick, Zachary Jones and Jessica Wallace.
Stephanie’s wish was to be cremated.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 East Lexington Ave.
The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be made in Stephanie’s name to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oakbranch Dr., Greensboro, N.C. 27407.

Bessie Russell
DENTON — Bessie Mae Crouse Russell, 89, of Mountain Vista Health Park and formerly of Flat Swamp Road, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at the Health Park.
Mrs. Russell was born on Aug. 14, 1918, in Davidson County to Reid W. Crouse and Vida Peacock Crouse. She worked in textiles for various Hosiery Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Vern Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Denton Town Cemetery.
The family will see friends at the residence on Flat Swamp Road.
Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 515, Denton, N.C. 27239.
