Raymond Jordan LEXINGTON Raymond Edward Jordan, 74, of Hege Drive in Lexington, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after being in declining health for several months. Born Feb. 2, 1933, in Jackson, Tenn., he was a retired truck driver for Old Dominion Trucking and he also served his country in the U.S. Army, a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Martin and the Rev. Claude Garrett officiating. Brenda Nichols LEXINGTON Brenda Bowen Nichols, 51, of Captain Drive in Lexington, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at her home following an illness of 12 years. Born May 24, 1956, in Washington, Va., she was the daughter of Charles Lowell Bowen and Donnie Felty Bowen. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Bowen and the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Welborn Sr. CHATTANOOGA, TENN. George C. Welborn Sr., 86, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008. Mr. Welborn was a native of Thomasville, N.C. and had resided in Chattanooga since 1947. He graduated from High Point University and attended George Washington Law School. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 33 years, including 28 years in Chattanooga where he was the Senior Agent in charge of the Chattanooga FBI Office until his retirement in January 1975. During his career with the FBI, he was also assigned to offices in Washington, D.C., New Haven and Hartford, Conn., Pittsburgh, Pa., Charlotte, N.C. and Knoxville, Tenn. Mr. Welborn was a charter member of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, serving as Chairman 1975-1976 and 1991-1992. He was a long-time member of the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and the First Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a member of the YOMACO Sunday School class for 60 years. As an avid golfer, Mr. Welborn enjoyed playing golf every opportunity he had and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. playing many golf courses including several PGA Tour Courses. He was very proud of the nine hole-in-ones he made including three in one four-month period. He was the son of the late Sam Jones and Nona Welborn of Thomasville, N.C. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Ernestine Jordan Welborn. He is survived by his wife, Ouida Felts Welborn; two sons, George C. Welborn Jr. (and wife Jan) of Marietta, Ga. and James D. Welborn of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three grandsons, Justin Grey Welborn, Lawson Hunter Welborn and Connor Brandal Welborn of Marietta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. S. Jay Welborn, of San Marino, Calif. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the North Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153. The funeral service for Mr. Welborn will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the same location.
