LEXINGTON — Mr. John William Byerly, 71, a resident of 12051 E. Old Highway 64, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at his home. He was born on Aug. 31, 1936, in Davidson County to the late Carley Otha Byerly and Frances Elizabeth Floyd Byerly. He was employed for 16 years at Thomason Chevrolet and later owned and operated Byerly’s Garage for 26 years. He attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church.
On March 28, 1970, he married Dot Lambeth, who survives of the home; also surviving are two sons, John Wayne Byerly and his wife Dawn of Kernersville, and Jeff Byerly and his wife Karen of Lexington; four daughters, Patricia “Sissy” Hege and her husband Dave of Grand Blanc, Mich., Tamara Blevins and her husband Robert of Trinity, Vonda Byerly of Lexington, and Tracy Hill and her husband Rick of Lexington; two brothers, Ted Byerly of Lexington and Carl Byerly of Thomasville; sister, Dianne Rayburn of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Amy and Travis Tysinger, Brett Byerly, Bryce and Victoria Blevins, Cameron Hill, and Amanda Caudill; and one great-grandchild, Gabriel Caudill.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Carroll Upton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Byerly will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today and at other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Tip Cross
LEXINGTON — Tip Cross, 39, of Nottingham Drive in Lexington, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, in Salisbury.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Sloop and the Rev. Edgar L. Armfield Jr.

LEXINGTON — Virginia Carlene (Connie) Weatherman Edwards, 75, of Rockcrusher Road in Lexington, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at her home. Born Feb. 11, 1932, in Yadkin County, she was retired from the Davidson County School System.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Burt Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the home. Max Lankford
Max Lankford, 62, of 1437 Whitehart School Road in Thomasville, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born Dec. 19, 1945, in Wilkes County, he had been employed with Deluxe Barber Shop for 42 years.
No formal services will be held. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 6516 Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Annie (Peggy) P. Scott
LEXINGTON — Annie (Peggy) Porter Scott, 72, of Mendota Avenue in Lexington, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, in Forsyth Medical Center after an extended illness.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Mocko officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Betty Wood
Betty Joyce Wood, 78, of 141 Lakeview Circle in Thomasville, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Hospice Home of High Point. Born May 12, 1929, in Thomasville, she was a self-employed beauty salon operator for many years and had made her home in this area for her entire life.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 624 S. State St., Lexington, N.C. 27292 in memory of Mrs. Wood.
