LEXINGTON — David Carson Berrier, 81, of William Lane in Lexington, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Lexington Health Care following a six month illness.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at National Cemetery in Salisbury with military graveside rites by the Chaplain.

Joe Clawson
LEXINGTON — Joe M. Clawson Sr., 74, of Leonard Road in Lexington, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born Dec. 2, 1933, in Davidson County, he was co-owner and operator of Clawson Pool Service and Supply.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. David Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with military rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The famil will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 2806 Leonard Road, Lexington. Memorials may be directed to Coggins Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1306 South Main St., Lexington, N.C. 27292.

Lawrence Conrad
LEXINGTON — William Lawrence Conrad, 91, of Lexington, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, in his home.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, 320 S. State St., Lexington.

Shirley McGee Daniels
LEXINGTON — Shirley McGee Daniels, 71, of Paddington Drive in Lexington, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, in Sun Bridge Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born Nov. 23, 1937, she was a life long employee of Hanes Hosiery where she retired.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Reeds Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Ackerman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Claude Eddinger
Mr. Claude James Shuler Eddinger, 80, a loving husband to his wife, honored and loving father to his sons and loving and respected grandfather known as Paw Paw to his grandchildren, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the Randolph Hospital. He was born on Dec. 5, 1927, in Davidson County to James Shuler and Claudia Shuler. He retired from Adams Millis Corp. after 43 years of service and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of Hasty Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and church clerk, and was a past Sunday School director and teacher. He was a member of the Thomasville Masonic Lodge #214 and The Order of Eastern Star Chapter 171. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Flay, Raymond, Grady, and Austin Shuler, and sisters, Nona Swink, Violet Landreth, and Mildred Hoover.
On April 13, 1946, he married Doris Leonard, who survives of the home; also surviving are three sons, Reverend Mike Eddinger and his wife Marilyn of Raleigh, Jeff Eddinger and his wife Kay of Thomasville, and Robert Eddinger and his wife Linda of Thomasville; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Brackett and her husband Jeremy of Charlotte, Kimberly Crawford and her husband Sam of Greensboro, Amanda Eddinger of Thomasville, Angela Eddinger of Raleigh, and Chasity Eddinger of Ramseur.
A funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Ronnie Beane and the Rev. Robert Cloniger officiating. Interment followed in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family was at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hasty Baptist Church, 161 Joe Moore Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Ruth Gordon
Mrs. Ruth Viola Hancock Gordon, 96, loving mother, grandmother, and a resident of 645 Lee Road in Thomasville, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the Hospice Home at High Point. She was born on Jan. 14, 1912, in Randolph County to Lindo Hancock and Alice Workman Hancock. She was employed the majority of her life in hosiery and was a great Christian witness. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church for most of her life, where she was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert T. Gordon Sr. in 1980, brothers, Homer Hancock and Edgar Tadlock, and sisters, Pearl Garner and Grace Hughes.
Surviving are a son, Albert T. Gordon Jr. and his wife Betty of Thomasville; daughters, Mary Barber and Hazel Wilson and her husband Thomas, both of Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Brenda Angel and her husband Dick, Vickie Larison and her husband Stan, Tony Barnes and his wife Julie, Kathy Fitzgerald and her husband Peter, Craig Allen Gordon, Michelle Gordon, Robbie Barber and his wife Teresa, and Tim Barber and his wife Jennifer; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several step-great and step-great-great-grandchildren; and grand-dog, Lulu.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Myers and the Rev. Robert Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Gordon will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family was at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Cecil Hiatt
Mr. Cecil Prevett Hiatt, 81 a resident of High Point Place and formerly of Burke Trail died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born in Thomasville, Sept. 7, 1926, a son of Remus Hiatt and Ellen Ellison Hiatt and was a lifelong resident of Thomasville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Naval Reserve. He had retired as a conductor with the HPT&D Railroad. He was a former member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the R. L. Pope Bible Class and was currently a member of Emanuel Reformed Church. He was a member of the Neuse River Valley Train Collectors Association and had authored a book on the history of the HPT&D Railroad.
Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Doris Trotter Hiatt; a daughter Mrs. Lisa Hiatt Welde and her husband Eric of Raleigh; a son Dale Hiatt of Morehead City; a sister, Mrs. Melvene Freeman of Highland, California; a brother, Elmer Hiatt and his wife Libby of Thomasville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Chelsea Jensen, Ian Hiatt, and Taylor Hiatt.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Emanuel Reformed Church by the Rev. Rickey Payne. Burial will be in Thomasville City Cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home today from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Emanuel Reformed Church, 1170 Emanuel Church Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360 or to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 4330 Bland Road, Flagship Building, Raleigh, N.C. 27609.

Paul Joines Jr.
Paul Houston Joines Jr., 54, of 6698 Midway School Road in Thomasville, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital. Born Nov. 25, 1953, in Guilford County, he was a former Methodist minister and was the owner of Senior Health Service of North Carolina.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Sechrest Chapel on East Lexington Avenue by the Rev. Carol Hunter and the Rev. Dr. Glenn Myers Jr. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Sechrest Funeral Service. George Karahalios
WINSTON-SALEM — George James Karahalios, 79, of Thomasville, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Winston-Salem after a period of declining health. Born Dec. 12, 1929, in Klafisiou Euritania, Greece, he was owner of Luigi’s Restaurant in Richmond, Va., managed Raceway Diner in Yonkers, N.Y. and also worked at the Silver Diner in Lexington, N.C.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Family Funeral Care Chapel with Father Dennis Camavos officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family Funeral Care, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville is entrusted with arrangements.

Selene McAdams
Mrs. Selene Parker McAdams, 86, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving daughters. Mrs. McAdams was born March 25, 1921, in Harnett County, N.C. to the late Mattie Pope Parker and Alcy Carroll Parker. She graduated from Women’s College, now University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and taught high school in Greensboro and Thomasville prior to her marriage to the late Mel McAdams, former golf professional at Forsyth County Club. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Colonel Joseph Winston Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was predeceased by her husband, Mel McAdams, and her parents, Mattie Pope Parker and Alcy Carroll Parker.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Williams and husband, Billy of Winston-Salem, Lou Garner and husband, Ralph, of Winston-Salem and Grace Carlton and husband, Paul, of Lewisville; three grandsons, Mel Williams and wife, Jennifer, Santford Garner and wife, Sarah, and Randy Carlton; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Garner, Isabella Garner and Landon Williams.
A memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at Centenary United Methodist Church. The family received friends and family after the service. Mary Francis Smith
Mary Francis Smith, 73, of Rouses Group Home of Stoneville, N.C., formerly of Thomasville, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, in High Point Regional Hospital. She had been a resident of Stoneville more than 40 years.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Thomasville with the Rev. Keys Pendleton officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kennedy Center at the church today from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.

LEXINGTON — Juanita Setser Wooten, 86, of Mageo Drive in Lexington, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after several years of declining health. Born Dec. 27, 1921, in Caldwell County, she was a retired accountant for Leslie O. Wooten Accounting and a homemaker.
