Robert Hayes Harris DENTON — Robert Hayes Harris, 84, of Old Hwy. 109 in Lexington, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center following a sudden illness. Ervin Lee Kenner Sr. BROCKTON, MASS. — Ervin Lee Kenner Sr, “Duncan”, 75, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Brockton Hospital. Born in Newberry, S.C. to the late Mattie Brown Buchannon Kenner and Reuben Buchannon and he moved to Thomasville at an early age where he attended Church Street School. He spent most of his adult life in Massachusetts where he was employed by and retired from Boston Veteran Hospital. Surviving are daughters Mrs. Loretta Kenner Hampton (Rudolph) of Jamestown, N.C.; Mrs. Angela Key (Tony) of Brockton, Mass., Becky Kenner of Lynn, Mass.; a son Ervin B. Kenner Jr. (Rose) of Hinesville, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Viewing, visitation and service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 6 – 8 p.m. at S. E. Barry Marsh Mr. Barry Ray Marsh, 38, loving and devoted husband and father and a wonderful brother, of 19 Whitaker Place in Thomasville, died Friday morning, Jan. 25, 2008, in the High Point Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1970, in Guilford County, a son of Bobby Marsh and Naomi Shives Marsh. He was employed with A.C. Electric of Kernersville. Mr. Marsh was a member of Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church. On Sept. 15, 1990, he was married to Sherri Rider, who survives of the home. Also surviving are sons, Jared Marsh and Brandon Marsh, both of the home; his father, Bobby Marsh of Archdale; sisters, Tammy Moore and her husband Daniel of Mayodan and Sandra Smithers and her husband Billy of Archdale; his father-in-law, Doug Rider of Darlington, S.C.; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Burton Street Missionary Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Burton and the Rev. Joel Somero officiating. David Rickard Mr. David Leon “Poss” Rickard, 79, a resident of E. Holly Grove Road in Thomasville died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Hospice at High Point. A lifelong resident of Thomasville and Davidson County, Mr. Rickard was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Davidson County a son of the late Alfred Lee and Eunice Jordan Rickard. He was retired as owner and operator of Thomasville Veneer from 1971-2004. From 1966-1971 he was tax supervisor for Davidson County Tax Department, was owner and broker of Rickard Realty Company from 1961-1966. Poss graduated from Thomasville High School in 1947 and attended Guilford College, High Point College and Naval Academy College Prep School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy MRSN. He was a member of Thomasville Masonic Lodge # 214 A.F.&A.M. and was a Shriner. Poss was an avid horse rider and square dancer. From 1976-1980 he was Chairman of the Republican Party of Davidson County. He was active in the East Davidson High School Booster Club and Fairgrove PTA, a former member of Fairgrove Lions Club and a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Rickard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; N.E. (Buck) Rickard and Eugene Rickard and a sister Mildred Moore. On Jan. 28, 1950 he married Betty Watts who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter Pam Lemmons and her husband Bill of Stokesdale, N.C.; his son, David T. Rickard and his wife Camilla of Thomasville, N.C.; grandchildren, Jade and Stevra Hudson, Allison Lemmons, Daniel and Dara Rickard; a sister Betty Lagillier and her husband Charlie of Seaford, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Reverends Christopher Uren, Fred Jordan, Victor Black officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
