Born Aug. 11, 1923, in Davidson County, he has worked at Thornton Hosiery Mill and was owner of Bill’s Mobile Home Park. Joseph John Fields Joseph John Fields, 50, of 911 Fisher Ferry St., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in the Hospice Home of High Point. Born Sept. 13, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of John Frank Fields and Mary Frances Riley Fields. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today in Walter’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Lena Hartsell Mrs. Lena Mae McIntyre Hartsell, 97, passed away on Feb. 10, 2008, at Britthaven of Davidson. She was born on March 3, 1910, in Stanly County to Sonny Louis McIntyre and Martha Tucker McIntyre. She retired from Parkdale Mills and was the oldest member of Rich Fork Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Taft Hartsell in 1989, whom she married on Dec. 26, 1927, daughters, Marlene and Evelyn Hartsell, and Dorothy Hartsell Gordon, grandson, Jeff Scott Hill, sisters, Ruby, Fannie, Esther, and Ruth, and brothers, Paul, Ralph, Roy, and Bill. Surviving are her sons, Olin Hartsell and his wife Betty, Glenn Hartsell and his wife Shirley, all of Thomasville, Tony Hartsell of Trinity, and Rick Hartsell and his wife Debbie of Calif.; daughters, Marvina Powers and her husband Leon and Vivian Georgene Hill, all of Thomasville; sisters, Rachel McIntyre Hadley of Locust, N.C. and Doris McIntyre Huneycutt of Big Lick, N.C.; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bowers officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Oakboro City Cemetery in Stanly, County with the Rev. Barry Whitley officiating.
