LEXINGTON — James Byerly, 71, formerly of Adams Street, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, in Dorotheo Dix Hospital in Raleigh after four years of declining health. Born Jan. 30, 1937, in Davidson County to the late Everette Lee and Julia Wilson Byerly, he was also preceded in death by six brothers. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today in Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Heath Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be made at www.piedmontfuneralhome.com. Harvey L. Grubb Mr. Harvey Lee Grubb, 84, of 716 Mt. Zion Church Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at 6:59 a.m. in Thomasville Medical Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Davidson County, a son of Harvey David Grubb and Ella Black Grubb. He was employed with Thomasville Furniture Industries, retiring with 42 years of service. Mr. Grubb was a long-standing member of Liberty Baptist Church, a member of the Ben May Sunday School Class and was also active in The Church Brotherhood, and served as a church deacon. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Cline, and a brother, Paul Grubb. Mr. Grubb was married April 21, 1946, to Kathleen Barnes Grubb, who survives of the home. Also surviving are: one son, David Lee Grubb, of Thomasville; one sister, Myrtle Ferguson, of Thomasville; one brother, Everette “Johnny” Grubb, and wife Hazel, of Thomasville; one brother-in-law, Charles Cline, and wife Jannie, of Thomasville; three nieces and two nephews. Funeral service will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Miller and Dr. Brooks Hunt officiating. Harris Arnold Gregory “G-Money,” Harris, 46, of 703 Douglas Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, in Thomasville Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in Thomasville Medical Center. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service and other times at the home of his brother, Benjie Harris, 215 Barnwell St., Thomasville. Stephen L. Hill Mr. Stephen Lyndon Hill, 56, a resident of 105 S. Cameo Drive, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital. Born in Thomasville on Oct. 3, 1951, to Roy L. and Treva Lyndon Hill, he had made his home in this area since 1992, moving from Valdosta, Ga. He was a 4th grade teacher at Fair Grove Elementary School and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a retired Senior Master Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force. During his military career, he traveled extensively throughout the world and served in many capacities while in the Air Force. A notable duty station was serving in a forward deployment during Desert Storm. Stephen was a person of many interest, chief among them was his work with children and their activities and mission trips for the Appalachian Projects with his church. He loved spending time with his daughter and son and coaching their ball teams as they grew up. He was an active member of the East Davidson Band Boosters. He was preceded in death by his parents. On April 11, 1987, he married the former Michelle Albritton, who survives of the home. Also surviving are his daughter, Stephene Michelle Hill, of the home, and his son, Michael Stephen Hill, who attends UNC at Chapel Hill; sister, Vickie Westmoreland and husband, Sonny, of Thomasville; and brother Leroy Hill and wife, Patricia, of Wilmington; his mother and father-in-law, Edgar and Jackie Albritton, of Kinston. Funeral service will be on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, with Dr. Ivan Peden, the Rev. Peggy Finch, the Rev. Glenn Kinken, and the Rev. Rodney Denton officiating. Junious Amelia Ruth Oliver Junious, 77, of 110 Stone St., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in High Point Regional Hospital. Surviving are sons Jacob Junious Jr. (Debbie) and Jimmy Junious, both of Thomasville; Moses Junious (Mamie) of West Haven, Conn., Mack Junious (Patricia) of Hartford, Conn. and Harmon Jones (Diane) of Temple Hills, Md.; daughters, Mrs. Susan Nelson (King) and Elizabeth Bogier (Rev. Thomas Bogier), both of Thomasville, Mary Thrower (Alfonzo) of Decatur, Ga., Margaret Manns of Hartford, Conn.; and stepdaughters Theola Parker of Summerton, S.C. and Victoria Scott (David) of Pinewood, S.C.; two sisters, Rachel Junious of Summerton, S.C., and Camilla Greene of Hartford, Conn.; one brother, Ben Oliver of Georgia; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. in Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Green Jr. officiating and Minister Brenda Junious assisting. Kinley LEXINGTON — Mr. Clarence Lee Kinley Sr., 91, a resident of Woodard Road in Lexington, died Feb. 21, 2008, at High Point Regional Health System. Mr. Kinley was born April 24, 1916, in Randolph County, and spent his life in Davidson County. He was the son of the late Allen Franklin Kinley and Flora Gibson Kinley. He was a former employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries. Mr. Kinley was a member of Clarksbury United Methodist Church and the F.M. Fritts Men’s Sunday School Class. He had also served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and church Treasurer. He loved his church as was evident by his willingness to serve the church. Mr. Kinley was an avid farmer and enjoyed hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers George and Odell Kinley and sisters Letha Meredith, Frances Summey and Thelma Saintsing. On Oct. 16, 1937, he married Bessie Ella Black, who died Jan. 10, 2005. Surviving are his daughters, Judith K. Loftin of Thomasville, Carol K. Sigmon of Lexington, Brenda Welborn and husband, Austin, of Trinity, Glenda Green and husband, Curtis, of Lexington; sons, Bascom Kinley and wife, Jackie P., of Lexington, and Clarence L. Kinley Jr. and wife, Rebecca B., of Lexington; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Clarksbury United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Christopher L. Sheffield and Dr. James A. Summey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Kinley will remain at J.C. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Mr. Henry Edward McFadden Jr., 78, passed away Feb. 7, 2008, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from medical complications. He was laid to rest on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the Veterans Cemetery in Boynton Beach, Fla. Mr. McFadden was born in Thomasville on May 18, 1929, the son of Henry “Mac” and Lillian Eddinger McFadden.
