THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Norma Seward Beeson, 75, a resident of Centerclair Nursing Center and formerly of Hillcrest Circle, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the nursing home. She was born in High Point on Aug. 27, 1932, a daughter of Gray S. Seward and Janie Clodfelter Seward and was a lifelong resident of the High Point and Thomasville area. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, where she had worked in the church nursery. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Earl “E.B.” Beeson; a sister, Iris L. Hall; and brothers, Charles Seward, Allen Seward, and Lowel Seward. She is survived by her husband, Ira Earl Beeson Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Royals and her husband, Dr. Andy Royals, of Lincolnton; a son, Gary L. Beeson and his wife, Teresa, of Chillicothe, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Joan M. Putman and her husband, Randle, of High Point; two brothers, Pete Seward of Centerville, Va. and Joe “Brad” Seward and his wife, Shirley, of Veradale, Wash.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Carol Hicks. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Ferguson and Dr. Andy Royals officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain in J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home until the hour of the service. She was born on Aug. 12, 1912 in Guilford County to Powell H. Durham and Josephine Patterson Durham. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Reitzel Beck, on May 3, 1993, six sisters and three brothers. Graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Jack Malphurs officiating. Mrs. Beck will remain at the J.C. Eli Clapp ROCKWELL — Eli Huston Clapp, 81, a resident of Paul Road, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Clapp was born in Guilford County on July 20, 1926 to the late Floyd D. Clapp and Flossie Smith Clapp. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a retired employee of Winn-Dixie and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda and Stephanie Clapp, and a brother, James E. Clapp. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Interment with military rites will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Robert Gallimore THOMASVILLE — Robert Monelle Gallimore, 75, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Mountain Vista Health Park. He was born on Nov. 30, 1932 in Davidson County to Jesse and Eugena Gallimore. He was an active member of Hillside Park Baptist Church and a supervisor at Henredon Furniture for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, fourth brothers and four sisters. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Family Funeral Care Chapel with the Rev. Steve Chips and Terry Boles of Hillside Park Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Hill Memorial Park. She was born in Ontario County, N.Y. on August 5, 1956 to Otis B. “Lucky” Wightman and Betty Housel-Wightman. She was the beloved wife of her best friend, Spurgil Lee Jones, whom survives her. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Charles “Pete” Mitchell SOUTHMONT — Mr. Charles Gordon “Pete” Mitchell, 50, of Sailor’s Rest, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at his home. He was born on March 27, 1957 to Bob Lee and Joann Slate Mitchell. He was the owner of Piedmont Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning Company and a graduate of Thomasville Senior High School. Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Lamm officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at other times at the home of the mother, which is located at 306 Lakeshore Drive in Thomasville. Arnold “Dan” Moore THOMASVILLE — Mr. Arnold Daniel “Dan” Moore Jr., 72, a resident of Albertson Road, died Monday, March 17, 2008, in the Hospice Home of High Point. He was born Feb. 6, 1936 in Cabarrus County, a son of Arnold Daniel More Sr. and Marcelia Clayton Moore. He was a general contractor and owner and operator of Dan Moore, Inc. of Thomasville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. On Aug. 27, 1957, he married Martha Gene Arnold, who survives, of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Genie Moore Miller and husband, Brett, of Virginia Beach, Va; a son, Arnold Daniel Moore III and wife, Phyllis, of Conover, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Arnold Daniel Moore IV and Emily Alexandra Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Moore Weaver. A graveside entombment service was held Wednesday, March 19 at 1 p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with Mr. Brett Miller officiating. No formal visitation was held. Henry Sechrist THOMASVILLE — Mr. Henry Everett Sechrist, 71, a resident of Dillon St. in Thomasville, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center after a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Davidson County, Henry was born on Jan. 18, 1937, a son of Albert Lee Sechrist Sr. and Margie Rickard Sechrist. He retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries (Plant D) after 32 years of service. Henry attended Southgate Baptist Church when his health permitted and he was fascinated by trains. He was a loving brother and a wonderful husband. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby Joe Sechrist and Albert Lee Sechrist Jr. On Jan. 18, 1963, he married Betty Surratt, who survives, of the home. Also surviving are his sister, Glenda Bray and her husband, John, of Thomasville; several nieces and nephews; and special nieces Brenda Watford, Laura Hammonds and Joy Baskins. Memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Garner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to Memorial Park Wesleyan Church, 100 Leonard St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.
