THOMASVILLE — Mr. Curtis Eugene Benson, 64, a resident of 6979 Prospect Church Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at High Point Health Center. Mr. Benson was born in High Point on Sept. 4, 1943 to Russel Edward and Gladys Virginia Kennon Benson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired press operator at ASB Graphics. A musical person, he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Edward Benson. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Claude Garrett Sr. and the Rev. Jimmy Garrett officiating. Burial with full military rites performed by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Reva Everhart LEXINGTON — Reva Trantham Everhart, 98, of Brian Center, formerly of Turner Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the nursing home. Franklin LEXINGTON — Lucille Fowler Franklin, 81, of Alston Brook Rest Home and Retirement Center, formerly of Farland Drive in Lexington, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at the rest home after several years of declining health. Mrs. Franklin was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in McDowell County, W. Va. to Fred Fowler and Lonie Hash Fowler. A member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, she was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture. Her husband, James William Franklin Jr., preceded her in death. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the home of the daughter on Garland Drive in Lexington. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Davie Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter-in-law, which is located at 2416 Swicegood Road in Linwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of the donor’s choice. Jewell Hedgecock KERNERSVILLE — Mrs. Jewell Frances Willard Hedgecock, 90, of Abbotts Creek Church Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Westchester Manor in High Point. She was born on July 16, 1917, to the late Hubert L. and Bertie Craven Willard in Forsyth County. She was a member of Ledford Homemakers and attended Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Willie Paul Hedgecock, who died March, 15 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Willard. Graveside service will be held at Abbots Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Hollar officiating. The family will receive friends at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Wallburg today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice of charity. Joe Pierce LEXINGTON — Joe Irving Pierce, 79, of Brookstone Retirement Center, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health. Mr. Pierce was born in Greenville, S.C. on Sept. 27, 1928, to Cephus Morris Pierce and Emma Lee Fletcher Pierce. He was retired from Lacy Miller Machine and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Welcome. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura M. Chappell Pierce and a brother, Robert Pierce. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Allison officiating. Walter Dale Tysinger LEXINGTON — Walter Dale Tysinger, 55, of Old Mountain Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at his home. Evelyn Winslow ARCHDALE — Mrs. Evelyn Louise Blair Winslow, 91, of Archdale, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at her residence. She was born on Feb. 16, 1917, the daughter of the late Allen Jay Blair and Mary Joesphine Mendenhall Blair. A member of High Point Friends Meeting, she was a retired employee of the World War II War Department, Archdale Manufacturing Company and Phillips-Foscue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Robert Winslow, and her beloved brother, Jay Elwood Blair. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Springfield Friends Meeting with the Reverends Kelly Kellum and Ray Luther officiating. Interment will follow in the Springfield Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville and at other times at the residence of the daughter, Judith Winslow.
