THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Annie Lee Hill Ingram, 87, a resident of 201 Willa Mae Court, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at High Point Hospice Home. She was born in Davidson County on Dec. 29, 1920, a daughter of Jacob J. Hill and Daisy James Hill. She was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. She was a homemaker and a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church since 1940, as well as a life member of United Methodist Women, a member of the Chancel Choir, a pianist for the Bible Class and a worker in the children’s department of the church. She was married to Jesse Lyndon Ingram Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Whit Workman. Surviving is a daughter, Ms. Sandra Workman of the home; two nephews, Wendell Eller and his wife, Betty, of Advance and Jim Green and his wife, Janet, of Gastonia. She is also survived by her extended family, Tim and Cindy Parker and their son, Chase, of Thomasville. Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Fair Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elise Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the hour of service. The family will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and other times at the home. Members of the Christian Fellowship Class and Men’s Bible Class are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and should meet at the church by 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. He was born on Oct. 26, 1926 in Forsyth County to Clarence and Gladys Hurd King. He retired as a guard for Davidson County Landfill and was a Navy Veteran, having served on the U.S.S. North Carolina during World War II. Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Velna King, in 2002. Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Miller and the Rev. David Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Nellie Leonard LEXINGTON —Nellie Frances Thomason Leonard, 90, a resident of W. 6th St., died Friday, April 4, 2008. Mrs. Leonard was born in Davidson County on Sep. 12, 1917 to the late Ernest Thomason and Annie Thaxton Thomason. She was a homemaker and a member of Second United Church of Christ. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Piedmont Funeral Home. Fred Shoaf FARMINGTON —The Rev. Fred Coolidge Shoaf, 82, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 12, 1925, to John Henry and Myrtle Craver Shoaf. Rev. Shoaf attended Divinity School at Duke University, where he completed his ministerial studies. He faithfully served many churches in the Western North Carolina Conference. Churches served were in Mocksville, Farmington, Stokesdale and Kernersville, before retiring in 1988. It is with joy that we remember his life and ministry and the people whose lives were blessed by his commitment to Jesus Christ. Rev. Shoaf was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Addie Shoaf and Evelyn Sink and two brothers, Clyde Shoaf and Wayne Shoaf. He is survived by his loving wife for 61 years, Helen Motsinger Shoaf; two sons, Richard Shoaf and the Rev. Timothy Shoaf; a daughter, Angela Spach and her husband, Eddie, of Farmington; three grandchildren Brian Spach, Melissa Spach and Melinda Ladd and her husband, Jason; and two sisters, Mildred Hege of Gastonia and Pansy Sink of Midway. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack Tookey officiating. Burial will follow in Farmington Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com. *** Christopher Stevens TRINITY — Christopher Caleb Stevens, 23, a resident of 6118 Fairview Church Road, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on Oct. 3, 1984, in Davidson County, a son of Tim and Cathy Robbins Stevens. A 2003 graduate of Trinity High School, Christopher had played little league baseball and football in the Archdale-Trinity Little League, as well as varsity baseball, football and wrestling at Trinity High School. An avid outdoorsman, Christopher enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his hunting friends in Stokes County. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Christopher was a Quality Assurance Test Technician with Deere-Hitachi, Inc. in Kernersville. He attended Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting. Surviving are his parents, Tim and Cathy Stevens of the residence; one sister, Brandy Racicot Coggins and husband, Chad, of Sophia; one brother, Joshua Stevens of the residence; his grandparents, Junior and Ann Robbins of Trinity and Sue Stevens of High Point; two nieces, Kaitlyn Kropelnicki and Taylor Coggins; one nephew, Caleb “Bubbie” Coggins; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert L. Stevens. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with the Rev. Randal A. Quate officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the service in the sanctuary of the meeting house.
