THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Florette Sigmon Burton, 85, of Liberty Woods Nursing Home, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the nursing home. She was born on July 14, 1922, in Catawba County, a daughter of the late Roy Sigmon and Etna Baker Sigmon. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Temple. She was married on Aug. 15, 1943 to Vernie Harold Burton, who preceded her in death of Feb. 2, 1984. Graveside service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Brother Bill Cartrette and Brother Rob Coones officiating. The family will be at J.C. Dewey Fields THOMASVILLE — Mr. Dewey Don Fields, 65, a resident of Britthaven of Davidson, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital. Mr. Fields was born on Oct. 9, 1942, in Lee County, a son of Dewey and Alice Dixon Fields. He had been a resident of Archdale for the past 12 years and was a retired truck driver. Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Hilltop Baptist Church with the Rev. William “Junior” Seawell and the Rev. David Hedrick officiating. Fox LEXINGTON — Henry Wilburn Fox, 74, of James St., died Sunday, April 20, 2008, in Lexington Memorial Hospital after several years of declining health. Mr. Fox was born on May 24, 1933, in Iredell County to Dallas Fox and Katherine Hedrick Fox. He was retired after 25 years as a supervisor for the city of Statesville and was a member of St. Andrews United Church of Christ. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrews United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jake Sharpe and the Rev. Don Eisinger officiating. Entombment will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville. The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. James Melvin Horne THOMASVILLE — Mr. James Melvin “Poochie” Horne, 57, of 909 Douglas Drive, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Emanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at the home of his mother, Ms. Mary Alice Horne, 603 Penn St. in Thomasville. S.E. Thomas Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Pete Lambe LEXINGTON — Everett Eugene “Pete” Lambe, 66, of Holloways Church Road, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Lambe was born on Dec. 26, 1941, in Rowan County to Everett Woodson Lambe and Annie Shoemaker Parks. He was the owner and operator of Lake Land Electric. Graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Max Shoaf. The family will receive friends at the home. Jean Shipplett THOMASVILLE — Jean Carol Russell Shipplett, 72, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her home. Jean was born on March 12, 1936, in Davidson County to Raymond S. and Florence Templeton Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse, Billy Jackson Shipplett. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hayworth Wesleyan Church with Pastor David M. Emery officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Gardens Memorial Park. Williams and Erma Culler Williams. She was a retired employee of Lexington Furniture Industries Young-Hinkle Plant. She was married to Efird Bean who died on Oct. 27, 1974. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Claudie Harris, the Rev. Tommy Tysinger and the Rev. Tom McLean officiating. Brian Spry LINWOOD — Michael Brian Spry, 29, of Stepp Grubb Road, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 17, 2008, at his home. Mr. Spry was born on April 22, 1978, in Davidson County to Michael Wayne Spry and Nancy Eller Spry. He was a graduate of West Davidson High School and Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He loved the outdoors, especially duck hunting and fishing. He was formerly the vice president of Spry Fabrication and Welding.
