- Dorothy Blakley
THOMASVILLE — Dorothy Spainhour Blakley, 92, a resident of 181 Ridge Drive, passed away early Sunday morning, May 11, 2008, at her home.
She was born in Forysth County on April 15, 1916, and had made this area her home for her entire life. She was a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries. She was also a member of Southside Baptist Church. An artistically creative person, she enjoyed painting farm and country scenes as well as flowers and birds. Some of her artwork appeared on cabinetry made by TFI. She was happiest, however, when surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Webb Blakley, in July of 1986.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy B. Elliot and husband, Jack, of Thomasville; son, Rev. Ronald Blakley and wife, Linda, of Trinity; grandchildren, Sherry Elliot, Jack Elliot Jr. and wife, Nancy, Angela Blakley and Kevin Blakley and wife, Amanda; and one great grandson, Zachary Scott Elliot.
Funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Ester officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home.
The family request that memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1042, Thomasville, N.C. 27360 in Mrs. Blakley’s memory.

Archie Briggs
LEXINGTON — Archie Voils Briggs, 91, of Hunters Way, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Briggs was born in Davidson County on March 24, 1917, to Walter Lee Briggs and Lestia Elizabeth Swing Briggs. He was a retired employee of Dacotah Mills and a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Sosebee officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Kenneth Dudley
LEXINGTON — Kenneth Dudley, 62, of Eulala Leonard Road, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Dudley was born on Nov. 7, 1945, in Columbus County, N.C. to Fred Dudley and Dorothy Beulah Barnes Dudley. He was previously employed at Lexington Furniture as a foreman and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel and at other times at the home on Eulala Leonard Road.

Ann Journey
THOMASVILLE — Miss Ann Michelle Journey, 40, a resident of 797 Tob Hilton Road, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Guilford County on June 1, 1967, and was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a participant with Camp Dogwood through the N.C. Lions Club.
Funeral service was held on Monday at 11 a.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Christ Clontz and the Rev. Ardis Payne officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Margie Mounts
THOMASVILLE — On Saturday, May 10, 2008, Margie Tilley Mounts, a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 38.
Margie was truly a “Woman of Faith.” She will always be remembered by her loving ways and great sense of humor, even through her sickness. She was an encouragement to everyone around her.
She was born on Feb. 15, 1970, to Jimmy and Alice Tilley of Midway, N.C. On Feb. 22, 1991, she married Vince Mounts, who survives of Thomasville.
Margie will be loved and remembered by her husband and best friend of 17 years, Vince; their three children, Ashley, Morgan and Jonathan Mounts of the home; her parents, Jimmy and Alice Tilley of Midway; brother, Patrick Keith Tilley and his wife, Melinda; sisters, Jannie Stewart and husband, Tony, and Cathy Reed and her husband, Ricky; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Whitner officiating. Entombment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family was at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will receive friends at other times at the home of the father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Mounts, 2680 Old Highway 29, Thomasville.

Diane Pickrel
LEXINGTON — Patricia Diane Pickrel, 63, of Tussey Road, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Pickrel was born on Sept. 10, 1944, in Davidson County to William “Bill” Franklin Jarrett and Mildred Sarah Smith Jarrett. She was a former employee of National Wholesale and a member of Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle Church.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edwin Thomas
WINSTON-SALEM — Edwin Thomas, 65, of Gumtree Road, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Thomas was born on March 10, 1943, in Davidson County to Howard Adam Thomas and Cleve Nifong Thomas. He was the owner and operator of Triad landscape and supply. He was of the Methodist faith and preceded in death by his father.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hebron United Church of Christ with the Rev. Michael Gates officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home.

David Wyatt Jr.
LEXINGTON — David Lee Wyatt Jr., the precious son of David Lee Wyatt Sr. and Paula Kay Boyd passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem. David was born on March 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Lee Boyd Sr.
Funeral service will be held at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Shortt officiating. Interment will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
