DENTON — James Curtis Bryant Sr., 72, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Bryant was born on June 8, 1936, in Haywood County to John Clingman Bryant and Annie Keener Bryant. He retired from Burlington Industries.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Denton.
In lie of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Jean Coupland
LEXINGTON — Jean Marie Johntson Coupland, 63, of Snider-Kines Road, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at her home after a five year illness.
Mrs. Coupland was born on Aug. 1, 1944, in Beaver County, Pa., to Arthur Edwin Johnston and Bertha Irene Brickner Johnston. She was a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She attended Psalm 91 church.
Memorial service will be held a later date.
Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is serving the family.

Julia Hedrick
THOMASVILLE — Julia Arlese Walton Hedrick, 87, of 609 Longview Drive, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, in Britthaven of Davidson.
She was born on June 28, 1920, in Guilford County, a daughter of the late Charles Hughes Walton and Fanny Lane Coward Walton. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church in Thomasville with the Rev. Christopher Uren officiating. Interment will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville today from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 100 East Sunrise Avenue, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Laris Johnson
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Laris Woodrow Johnson, 70, a resident of 504 Concord St., died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born in Horry County, S.C. on April 23, 1938, to Colie and Katie Allen Johnson. He was retired from Commercial Carving.
Funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Maxie Hardee officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.

Ora Nance
THOMSAVILLE — Ora Hughes Nance, 92, died on June 12, 2008, at Lexington Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Family Funeral Care Chapel. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville from 6 to 8 p.m.

Irene Smith
WINSTON-SALEM — Mrs. Irene Willard Smith, 90, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at The Oaks at Forsyth.
She was born on April 8, 1918, in Guilford County to Jesse Clay and Evia Lena Willard and resided in this area her entire life. She was retired from Western Electric and was an active member of New Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Wallburg with the Rev. David Nolan officiating. Burial will follow in New Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter at 5173 Gumtree Road in Winston-Salem.
The family requests that memorials be made to New Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 6408 Friendship-Ledford Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
