LEXINGTON — Ruby Vernell Siress Freeman, 89, a resident of Horseshoe Neck Road, died at her home on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Owens officiating. The family received friends following the service at Piedmont Funeral Home. She was born on June 23, 1943, in Columbus County to Memory and Vernie Gause. She a member of Faith and Victory Church of Greensboro and was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Family Funeral Care Chapel with Pastor Ed Taylor of Faith and Victory Church of Greensboro officiating. Entombment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville. Ruth Marsh ASHEBORO — Mrs. Ruth Roland Luther Marsh, 83, of 2832 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at her residence. She was born on April 4, 1925, in Jackson County, N.C., a daughter of the late Eugene George Luther and Olive Iola Phillips Luther. She was a retired employee of Claude Gable Furniture Company and was a former telephone operator in Arlington, Va. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Interment will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of the granddaughter, Melissa Ragan Staley, 218 Crestview Drive, Thomasville. McCornmick and Tiffany L. Benedict, died on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Viewing will be held from Thursday to Friday at Woodard Funeral Home, which is located at 1309 Leonard Avenue in High Point. Graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park. The family requests that attendees not wear all black if possible. Ethel King Terrell RALEIGH, N.C. — After a lengthy period of declining health, Ethel Mae King Terrell of 119 Brooks Avenue in Raleigh, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008. The older daughter of Benjamin Travis King and Bertie Lee Overby King of Warren Plains, N.C., she was the devoted wife and widow of Charles Lee Terrell Sr., and the beloved mother of sons Charles Lee Terrell Jr., formerly of Danville, Va., and presently of the home, and Benjamin Travis Terrell and wife, Jane, of Winston-Salem. Other surviving family include grandson, Benjamin Travis Terrell II, of Odenton, Md.; grand daughters, Jennifer Rebecca Terrell of New York City, N.Y., and Eleanor Fleming Terrell and Emily Brook Terrell Brown of Greensboro; their mother, Susan Connor Terrell, of Thomasville; a great-granddaughter, Baylee Westbrook Brown, of Greensboro; and a brother, Bennie Layfette King of Raleigh, N.C. Mrs. Terrell was a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church and a past president of the Devoted Ruth Sunday School Class which she attended for over fifty years. She took great satisfaction in her family, her home and her yard. She was a charter member of the University Park Homeowners Association and always strove for the improvement of her neighborhood. She possessed a warm and winning personality, made friends easily and enjoyed chatting with N.C. State University students as they passed her yard on the way to their classes. Memorial service will be held at noon today at Raleigh’s Hayes Barton Baptist Church, Five Points. Visitation with family and friends will precede the service from 11 a.m. to noon in the church parlor. Those individuals wishing to speak with the family are invited to do so at this time. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, Inc., 1300 St. Mary’s St., Raleigh, N.C. 27605 or to Hayes Barton Baptist Church, 1800 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, N.C. 27608.
