- Mallory Cranford
Miss Mallory Marie Cranford, 17, a resident of 596 Mt. Zion Church Road, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1990, in Davidson County, to April Baldwin Hammonds and Kevin Lyle Cranford. She had made this area her home her entire life. She was a student and attended Southgate Baptist Church and East Davidson High School. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Norman Cranford.
Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Southgate Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of her grandparents, Paul and Jan Baldwin at 7286 Little Uwharrie Road.

Lucian Hiatt
Mr. Lucian Elmer Hiatt, 85, of 700 Myrtle Drive, passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center.
He was born on March 18, 1923, in Davidson County to Remus Clayton and Ellen Ellison Hiatt, he had made his home in this area for his entire life. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp Pilot who was one of the youngest pilots during his period of service. He was retired after 40 years of service in the Communications Department at Thomasville Furniture Industries and was also the owner of Hiatt Airport. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville where he was a deacon and president of his Sunday School Class. He was a past Commander of The Civil Air Patrol, a member of the Thomasville Civitans Club and danced with the Chair City Squares. He was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Prevette Hiatt. On April 17, 1949, he married the former Mary Lib Gordon, his loving wife, who survives of the home.
Also surviving, are his precious daughters, Susan Embler of Ridgewood, N.J., and Belinda Harris and husband, Dennis, of Greensboro; his sister, Melvene Freeman of California; grandchildren, Joey Causey, Stephanie Causey, Byron Harris and April Luther; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bynum Orr and the Rev. Ronald Freeman officiating. Burial, with full military honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard, will follow in Thomasville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home and at other times at his home.
The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 11 Cramer Street, Thomasville, N.C. 27360 in his memory.
