Award-winning dance team to conclude season April 1

Students at Bobbi’s School of Dance, Inc. will conclude their competition season by traveling to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to the International Dance Challenge Competition. The competition will be held April 1 at Odell Williamson Auditorium at Brunswick County Community College in Supply, N.C.
The team, which consists of 107 members from the school, has recently competed in Hickory on Feb 25; Winston-Salem on March 4-5; and Raleigh on March 17-19.
Bobbi’s School of Dance has 33 teams competing in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, pom-pom/cheer, acrobatics, modern, and production.
In the most recent competition in Raleigh, the team was awarded 22 first place ratings — and 7 of those 1st place ratings achieved a Platinum award for high scoring.
The team also placed in the overall scoring of their divisions eight times and achieved the highest overall in division six of those times.
Platinum ratings were achieved by the Petite Acro team, Petite Cheer team, Petite Tap team, Duet teams of Eva Lovell and Taylor Brooks, Senior Acro Team, Elite Pom team, and Production team.
The Petite Cheer team received the highest score of the day in the entire Petite Division in addition to their Platinum rating, first place, and first overall achievement.
The members of the Petite Cheer team are Katelyn Mouzon, Madison Lomax, Madison Elliott, Danielle Voy, Kayla Hepler, Eva Lovell, Hannah Tysinger, Lucy Shuler, Elizabeth Gloor, Shaye Hill, Hope Williams, and Courtney Lyda.
Other teams achieving overall in division awards were the Intermediate Acro team, firstoverall in division; the Eva Lovell and Taylor Brooks Duet team, the first overall in division; the Brittany and Courtney Lyda Duet team, fifth overall in division; the Senior Acro team, first overall in division; the Elite Pom team, third overall in division; the Varsity Pom team, first overall in division; and the Production team, first overall in division.

Director of the competition team is Ashley Barton and other instructors of the teams are Jennifer Baldwin, Heather Barnes, and Andrea Mc-Quaigue.
All of the teams will be performing in the three recitals on May 19 and 20 at T. Austin Finch Auditorium. Some of the teams will travel to the finals of the Encore Dance Competition of the Stars to be held mid-July in Charleston, S.C.
Bobbi’s School of Dance, Inc. — under the leadership of Bobbi B. Hunter — is located on Trade Street and has been serving Thomasville for 38 years.
